...Because after all, written language must stand on the shoulder of oral language.
                                      Dr. Paula Tallal

Course Description:

Students will experience and learn how to establish an inviting and effective language learning community.  Understanding how children learn language, and applying theory through effective practice will enable them to support the development of children's literacy.  Opportunities will be provided to apply skills learned during a field experience in a school classroom.  Students will: teach and use language for authentic purposes, differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all children, and integrate language instruction across the curriculum.
