I finally read everyone's site and it touched me; everyone has done a wonderful job. I especially enjoyed
the Chautauqua characters. Everyone has so much talent and I laughed with everyone else. I am looking forward
to the students that I am working with to see what stories and emotions they will bring tomorrow.

I worked with my students from Apache Elementary, but they weren't really into working on their characters. They
kept changing their persons. I think they are trying to be shy, but I know they are not that way. I showed them pictures
of my grandhchildren even a video of my baby granddaughter and thought that might help. I'm sure it did, but they didn't show
it. Girl 1knows which character to do, but she keeps laughing, but I think when she sees how the rest of classmates
are doing; she will do her part better. I am not sure about Girl1 and Boy. Boy wants to be the Terminator;
it's find if he's a member of his family. :) I thought we had a good class discussion with Francis. She is
a good teacher and very animated. |

Today we met with our students. I am not very satisfied with the progress
of my students because they are not being themselves and I don't know how I can get them to act out their characters. But
I got to keep trying with them; I know they laught and giggle with their friends. I know they have good stories about
their characters or else they would not have chosen them. I will get through to them.

Today we met with our future performers. I'd say I was surprised by today's visit
even though Girl1 as absent. Girl2 said that she wanted to change her character to Aunt Betty; this would be her
third time changing characters. Oh dear. Oh well, I thought. We both found out that she knew her Aunt Betty's age, children
and her occupation and nothing else. I told her that she would be better off being her sister because she was there
everyday and Girl2 could observe her, but that was not the answer because I found out that Girl2 lived with her grandmother.
I told her she could be her grandmother and how the expression on Girl1's face changed! We hit the jackpot! A
breakthrough! She even knew a story about her grandmother than all of the other characters. She felt more comfortable.
I told her that I was proud of her. Boy is still being his father, Lean. Lean is a mechanic by trade. Boy
does not know much about his dad. How sad. I challenged both of them to interview their characters and find more information
because time is running out! I have confidence they will.

I had all of my students together and they worked harder than ever before. I feel
that finally! they are getting the "picture" of portraying their characters. I think they realize what will be happen
when Francis was recording her group. My group did well with their characters and need to practice at home because this
coming week-May 1st- they will be on camera! They will perform for their families later. I hope my students are
learning from this experience. I sure am.

Today I met with my students: Lean, Yada and Betty; they are characters' names. We
were the second to the last to be videotaped. My students were nervous, but I kept reassuring them that it will be just
fine and it was. Some of the students were running around the cafeteria; maybe they were nervous, but my students stayed
by me. I appreicated that. These students have come a long ways to be where they are. For awhile, I was frustrated with
them; I felt that I could not connect with them and were being stubborn. I am stubborn and probably saw myself in them. But
since last week on, they had loosened up and that was refreshing. I am especially proud of Girl2 because she finally
connected with her character, her grandmother. I feel that she is more closer to her. She had a wonderful story to tell about
her grandmother and I am glad that she chose to be her. I am sure her grandmother would be proud of her when she performs
in the program. I am proud of my students. They have done a good job.
